Based on the heart-rending true story of a sci-fi writer Taku Mayumura and his wife. After Sakutaro (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) learns that his wife Setsuko (Yuko Takeuchi) has colon cancer, he takes the advice from his doctor that laughter could strengthen her immune system Sakutaro then decides to write a short story for his wife every day.
