Brimming with Catholic iconography, pop culture references, grotesque humor and even an elephant funeral, Holy Blood follows the misadventures of Fenix (played by Jodorowsky’s son, Axel), who as a young boy witnesses his father cut off his mother’s arms, before committing suicide. A decade later, Fenix escapes from a mental asylum and reunites with his mother, the leader of a fanatical cult, only to be forced into “becoming her arms”and joining her on a violent odyssey of revenge.
