Lung (Nick Cheung), a hardworking property agent, is facing a serious situation in life. His girlfriend won’t marry him unless he can buy her a 1000-sq ft apartment in one year’s time. Charlotte (Sammi Cheng), a recent divorcee who just moved out from her ex-husband, is in need of a new place to live. She receives a sizable breakup fee of 4 million dollars. Delivery girl Hak (Angelababy), who is Lung’s step daughter and sees him as a father figure, owns a small flat given by her estranged mother. Mainland richling Very (Oho) works as an intern in Lung’s property agency, claiming to experience ordinary life in Hong Kong.
Lung figures the quickest way to make enough money is through property speculation. If it goes according to plan, the flat is expected to be doubled in value when it is to be resold within one year. In order to do so, he must summon more investors to pay for the down payment. Charlotte, Hak and Very come at just the right time. With Charlotte contributing her breakup fee, Hak selling her old flat, and Very selling his McLaren, the four have become co-owners of the penthouse in the topmost floor of the luxurious condominium. They agree that the penthouse is for sale only, and that they must sell it when anywhree of them agree to.
Good times don’t last long, however. Their plan soon comes to grief when the government issues an anti-speculation measure to cool down the property market. Unable to sell the penthouse and without a place to live, their temporary solution is to take the penthouse as their home. But living along is a lot different from getting along. It doesn’t take long before they become fed up with each other. With their partnership at risk, they truly need something much stronger to hold them together.
